Position Summary
St. William Catholic School and Our Lady of Good Counsel are seeking a dynamic and passionate K-8 Spanish Teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 school year. This position supports students in developing Spanish language proficiency through a spiraled curriculum focused on communication, cultural awareness, and global competence.
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Spanish (FF) endorsement required
- Teaching experience preferred
- Strong classroom management and instructional skills
- Demonstrated experience or coursework in Spanish language instruction
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and reflective practice
- Ability to create a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
- Proficiency in using assessments to inform instruction and measure student progress
Duties And Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership:
- Deliver engaging, proficiency-oriented Spanish instruction across grade levels K-8
- Use the target language consistently to foster comprehension and production
- Employ a spiraled curriculum to reinforce and expand language skills annually
- Balance instruction between teacher-led content, student inquiry, and group learning
Planning And Assessment
- Design meaningful lesson plans aligned with curricular goals and student needs
- Develop and implement formative and summative assessments
- Incorporate diverse learning resources, including community partnerships, speakers, and field trips
Classroom Environment
- Maintain a positive, safe, and organized learning environment
- Set high expectations for student behavior and academic success
- Foster respect and inclusivity in every classroom interaction
Professional Contributions
- Maintain accurate records for student performance and attendance
- Communicate consistently with parents and guardians regarding student progress
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school events and committees
- Engage in school improvement initiatives and contribute to a faith-filled, mission-driven culture
