Whats unique about this job (What you’ll do)

The buyer is responsible for achieving country FF Plan in Gross Sales, GM% and GM$ while constantly looking for ways of making department and team more efficient. The buyer will work with the assigned Asistant Buyers (AB) in order to carry out item maintenance, merchandising layout, item portfolio and specifications. The Buyer will work directly with the GMM to ensure a timely execution of department strategy and maintain close communication with US FF Team, Operations, and vendors as needed.

Communication skills are key in maintaining an open channel with Vendors, Vendor Promotions team and Operations. The FF Buyer must be disciplined, self-motivate and able to work without supervision. The associate will be required to visit food processing plants including slaughter plants for Beef, Poultry, Seafood and Pork on a regular basic.

Key Responsibilities

-forecasting and replenishment

• Assure direct reports (AB) maintain a constant and appropriate inventory supply to each club and continuously evaluate inventory sent to clubs to achieve the best blended cost possible.
• Revise and authorize order placed by AB´s on a regular basis.
• Approval for club transfers, inventory adjustments and order necessary approval at position approval level. Work with GMM for orders exceed approval limit

-Inventory management

• Supervise AB Inventory analysis at RDC/PDC and Clubs – including DOH according to defined Show Stock of each item to aid forecasting.
• Assure AB maintains a strict control of shelf life and rotation from RDC/PDC and POS minimize as much as possible throwaway.
• Coordinate markdowns and vendor support to assist rotation of critical inventory.

-Pricing & Promotion

• Define pricing for all items in clubs and verify proper SIGN usage and e-comm atributes as per country guidelines for PP.
• Carry out weekly margin analysis to resolve inconsistencies as necessary and maintain Margin as per annual plan.
• Negotiate and calendarize Road Shows and Demo programs with local Vendors, Buyer will supervise ABs execution of these activities through Vendor Promotions team.

-Vendor mangement

• Vendor Approval – Identify and evaluate potential vendors in accordance to Food Safety requirements.
• Lead and resolve quality issues with vendors as necessary.
• Guarantee proper label requirements are met by vendor indicating safe handling instructions, Sanitary Registration, and local health requirements specific to type of product.

-Merchandising

• Continuously revise and improve Item recipes to determine proper use of packaging materials and item yield.
• Revise JOB AID implementation for Beef and Pork items for both US and Local items.
• Propose optimized layout through disciplined item management as per defined SKU count.

Requirements

• Graduate degree or similar.
• 4 years’ experience in buying or similar position.
• Inventory management
• Analytical skills
• Good communication skills, written and verbal
• Bilingual English – Spanish
• Food Safety and Food Handling as well as GMPs in food processing.
• MS Office - AS400 – DOMO
• Organized self-disciplined and able to work under pressure.
• Drivers license and vehicle in good working condition.
